Whitinsville Social Library’s laptop lending program allows patrons to borrow laptops for use at home.
The expanded technology offerings are designed to help community members access online services to complete school and continuing education assignments, search for employment, participate in workforce training, and connect to telehealth appointments.
Laptops may be borrowed by Northbridge residents 18 years of age or older with a library card in good standing that is older than three months. Laptops are for walk-in loan only.
The devices were provided through the Massachusetts Broadband Institute’s Connected & Online Program, a statewide initiative that distributes internet-enabled devices to libraries and other community organizations to help bridge the digital divide and increase access to education, workforce development, healthcare, and other essential online resources.
Laptops are available to borrow for up to two weeks. The Windows laptops are Dell Pro 14 (16GB RAM) with Microsoft 365 Basic (includes Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) Acronis anti-virus software, JAWS Screen Reader, and Zoom. Please note that due to the requirements of the grant, the laptop is filtered.
